Vodafone Firsts is an epic global content campaign telling unique personal stories of people doing incredible things for the first time, enabled and enhanced by modern mobile technology.
Vodafone recognised a need to increase their emotional connection to the public after seeing themselves as a brand that is well known but not well loved. They decided to do this by creating a campaign that looked to tell personal and aspirational stories of real people that would connect them with the public’s hearts and minds.
With a strong heritage in documentaries and branded content, Firecracker were commissioned by digital Agency AKQA who were drawn, not only to our ability to work with some of the best documentary directors in the business, but our collaborative approach, offering in house editorial development as well as high-end production values - a hybrid of advertising and documentary.
Ultimately the campaign has proven to be a huge success with several million people watching and interacting with the films online, helping Vodafone achieve their desired emotional uplift. Firsts has also lit up social media, creating an ongoing conversation in which the public are offering up their own ideas, moving the campaign into its next stage of evolution where content is created in response to those submissions.
