Angry, White and Proud has been nominated at The Grierson Trust’s 2015 British Documentary Awards.
Mentorn Media’s documentary, Angry, White and Proud, directed by Jamie Roberts, has been nominated in both the Best Documentary on a Contemporary Theme — Domestic and Best Newcomer Documentary categories for The Grierson Trust’s 2015 British Documentary Awards, it was announced today (TUES).
Angry, White and Proud aired on Channel 4 in January 2015. The powerful and shocking documentary delved into the world of the far-right in the UK.
In his first full length film, director Jamie Roberts spent a year getting to know members of the far-right: men who called themselves “patriots” but included some who openly admitted to being racist and hating Muslims. With unprecedented access Jamie captured all aspects of their lives: from violent street protests and dramatic police arrests, to the surprising reality of their domestic lives. It gave an unflinching look at their extreme views on religion, race and immigration. The documentary also gave us an insight into the hidden agendas, and motivations of the men who have dedicated themselves to the far right.
