Mentorn Media and Sunset+Vine Shortlisted for 2017 Broadcast Awards
The shortlist for the 2017 Broadcast Awards have been unveiled.
Mentorn Media’s The Jihadis Next Door has been shortlisted for Best News & Current Affairs Programme. The critically acclaimed documentary for Channel 4 challenges the behaviour and motivations of extremists, including Abu Rumaysah who is suspected of being a British jihadi and appears in an ISIS execution video. The documentary was also shortlisted in this year’s Grierson Awards for Best Documentary on Current Affairs.
Following its joint BAFTA win with Channel 4 for producing live coverage of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, Sunset+Vine has been shortlisted for its coverage of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games within the Best Sports Programme category. Sunset+Vine took a team of 320 to cover the Games for Channel 4, producing more than 700 hours of round-the-clock coverage, including 120 hours live. The Broadcast Awards is one of the most hotly anticipated events in the television industry calendar, recognising and rewarding the UK’s most ground-breaking and successful content, creators and channels. Judged by some of the industry’s biggest names, the awards cover key genres; from kids and comedy, to drama, documentary, sports and entertainment.
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held at Grosvenor House in London, on 1 February 2017.
