Pioneer Productions has appointed Thomas Viner in the role of Creative Director.
Pioneer Productions, one of the world’s leading specialist factual producers, part of the Tinopolis Group, has appointed Thomas Viner in the role of Creative Director.
Reporting into Pioneer Productions’ CEO, Jonathan Hewes, Thomas will work closely with Jonathan, Head of Development, Karen Willis and Executive Producer, Stephen Marsh to build on the company’s success in creating high quality and innovative specialist factual content for UK and international broadcasters. From long-running series such as How the Universe Works for Discovery Science US and World’s Weirdest Weather for Channel 4, to blue chip science shows such as Treasures of the Earth for NOVA in the US and KBS in Korea, travel and adventure programming like David Baddiel on the Silk Road for Discovery UK and PaddleSUP: Mission Amazon for Red Bull Media House, to acclaimed one-offs like Bloody Queens: Elizabeth and Mary for BBC 2.
With a career spanning twenty years, Thomas joins Pioneer from UK indie, Arrow Media where he served as Executive Producer. At Arrow Thomas produced over 75 hours of programming across science, history, current affairs and factual entertainment. His credits include hit series Animal Fight Night for National Geographic Wild; Investigation Discovery US’ highest rating returning series, See No Evil and latest hit American Monster; Kevin’s Supersize Salvage for Channel 4, and the revelatory Bletchley Park: Code-Breaking’s Forgotten Genius doc for BBC 2 and Smithsonian Channel. Thomas also served as Producer/Director on Raw TV’s Locked Up Abroad franchise for National Geographic and Channel 5; Blink Films’ Gladiator: The True Story for Channel 5, Smithsonian and BBCWW; and Flashback TV’s critically acclaimed doc Tony Robinson & The Blitz Witch for Channel 4, amongst others.
