Firecracker Films is to give pub quizzes the fixed-rig treatment in a genre-bending ob-doc series for Sky 1.
Quiz Nights is an 8 x 60-minute format featuring pub quiz teams from across the country. Each episode will revolve around four teams in four different pubs as they face identical questions. Firecracker’s fixed-rig cameras will focus on one team in each pub as they compete against others in their local and their rivals located around the country. The winning team will be presented with a golden tankard at the end of each show.
Each episode will feature new teams, although some of the participants will return throughout the series regardless of whether they win or lose each week. The show will be split into separate rounds with on-screen graphics enabling viewers to play-along at home.
The show was ordered by director of Sky 1 Adam McDonald and entertainment commissioning editor Chris Brogden.
It will be executive produced by Firecracker head of programmes Jes Wilkins and Morgan Roberts while Ollie Manley will series produce.
“Quiz Nights is a celebration of a quintessentially British night,” said McDonald. “We wanted a show that is not only a piece of fascinating people-watching TV but that also allows Sky customers to play along from home and really get involved”.
