Tinopolis Group announces it has appointed David Mortimer to the new role of Director of Content.
The fast growing Tinopolis Group announces today that it has appointed David Mortimer to the new role of Director of Content. David will be responsible for the group’s UK content direction and performance, and will work with Tinopolis’ production companies in both the UK and USA to develop a strong transatlantic production strategy. David will also be tasked with driving the group’s growth by identifying and recruiting new talent, with a particular emphasis on popular factual and factual entertainment.
David previously held the role of Senior Vice President Factual & Entertainment at NBCUniversal. He spent over three years overseeing NBCUniversal’s international unscripted production companies in the UK, Australia, Canada and Asia, specialising in factual and entertainment programming. He grew its unscripted business from just 12 hours in 2011 to more than 150 hours last year, winning commissions from key territories such as the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, France and Germany. Programmes include Made in Chelsea (Channel 4), The Real Housewives franchise (Bravo, ITVBe, Foxtel, Corus), The Question Jury (Channel 4), Driving School of Mum & Dad (Sky 1), Restoring Britain’s Landmarks (Channel 4) and QuizUp (NBC).
Prior to joining NBCUniversal, David was Co-founder and Managing Director of independent production company, Fever Media alongside Richard Hopkins. In seven years he built a business producing factual and entertainment programming for a range of UK and international broadcasters. Credits include 71 Degrees North (ITV), The People’s Quiz (BBC One) and The People’s Quiz Wildcard (BBC Two), No Place Like Home (ITV), It’s Love Actually (Sky Living), Bang Goes the House (Sky One), Move Like Michael Jackson (BBC Three), Murder Most Famous (BBC Two), Britain’s Bravest (Channel 5) and America’s Next Top Pop Group (MTV).
David has also held various production and commissioning roles at the BBC, having spent fifteen years at the public broadcaster. Most recently he served as Creative Head of Factual Entertainment, where he was responsible for over 300 employees and built a new BBC Entertainment department in London, Manchester and New York. Mortimer will report to Arwel Rees, CEO, Tinopolis Group and work alongside John Willis, Creative Director, Tinopolis Group.
