Tinopolis Group announces today that it has appointed Jonathan Hewes as CEO of Mentorn Media and Pioneer Productions.
The fast growing super indie Tinopolis Group announces today that it has appointed Wall to Wall’s, Jonathan Hewes as CEO of Mentorn Media and Pioneer Productions.
Hewes, one of British television’s most respected and successful executives, will be responsible for the day to day running of both production companies and will report jointly toArwel Rees, CEO of the Tinopolis Group and John Willis, Creative Director of the Tinopolis Group and Chairman of Mentorn Media. Stuart Carter, founder of Pioneer Productions, is also stepping down from his role as Chairman of the company.
Hewes has worked at Wall to Wall for 20 years, where he held senior roles as Head of Factual Programmes, Creative Director, Deputy Chief Executive and most recently Head of International. Jonathan was involved in the development and production of a wide range of the company’s programming for broadcasters around the world, including all of the major UK broadcasters, National Geographic Channel, PBS, HBO and Discovery. Jonathan also initiated Wall to Wall’s move into theatrical documentaries with Oscar and BAFTA-winning Man On Wire, which he executive produced. Hewes began his broadcasting career as a journalist with BBC’s Nationwide before moving on to be a producer of Britain’s legendary rock show The Tube , prior to joining Wall to Wall in 1995.

Jonathan will commence his role as CEO of Mentorn Media and Pioneer Productions on 24 August. Mentorn Media’s existing catalogue of factual programming includes Question Time (BBC One), Fried Chicken Shop (Channel 4) and An Idiot Abroad (Sky1). Pioneer Productions’ key shows include Treasures of the Earth (NOVA and KBS Korea), How the Universe Works (Discovery Science), How the Earth Works (Channel 4), Monsters Behind the Iron Curtain (NGCI and Animal Planet) and Mail Order Murder (Investigation Discovery).
