Sunset+Vine, the UK independent TV sports production and media company has been awarded a new three-year contract by the BBC for the production of the World Indoor Professional Bowls Championships.
Sunset+Vine will produce both live coverage and highlights programming of the world championships for the corporation from 2019 to 2021. The production will be run out of Sunset+Vine Scotland office located in Glasgow.
This is the second consecutive win for Sunset+Vine Scotland for the BBC’s production of the event, having successfully produced the last three World Championships. Sunset+Vine has been producing top level coverage of the sport for the broadcaster since 2003. In that year BBC Scotland commissioned the company to produce the Scottish International Open - an event Sunset+Vine has produced ever since.
Jeff Foulser, Chairman of Sunset+Vine, commented:
“January 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the World Indoor Bowls Championships moving to Potters Resort in Hopton on Sea and we are delighted to continue producing the coverage.
“We have a long history with bowls production at Sunset+Vine our solid past experience and proven editorial judgement, combined with quality match coverage and entertaining and informative features result in an energetic feel to our shows. Our hugely experienced Sunset+Vine Scotland production team is dedicated to finding new ways to broaden the appeal of bowls whilst respecting the core audience.”
Over the past fifteen years, Sunset+Vine has enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with the World Bowls Tour bringing top class indoor bowls coverage to BBC audiences, not to mention covering two successive Commonwealth Games Lawn Bowls tournaments.
Richard Maddieson, CEO World Bowls Tour, said;
“Over the last few years the World Bowls Tour has worked closely with Sunset+Vine in the production of its televised Bowls Championships and we are delighted that this relationship will continue. In this time, we have developed a very close understanding of each other’s needs. With their knowledge of players and the event I believe that, together, we’ll deliver a first-class sports production for the realms of TV sport.”
Coverage from the World Indoor Professional Bowls Championships begins on BBC Television, Red Button and Online from 21st January 2019. The Championships will be hosted at the Potters Resort in Hopton-on-Sea.
